It’s no secret that there’s a growing focus on climate change and the role we all play in it. With record-high temperatures being recorded across land and sea, and carbon dioxide levels from human activities increasing at an exponential rate, it’s never been more important to take action and search for eco-friendly solutions before it’s too late.
We acknowledge that as an organisation, we have an impact on the environment both directly, through our business activities, and indirectly, through our supply chain and customers. DPL’s strategy is to think long term – to be able to meet the needs of people today without compromising the needs of future generations. As an organisation, DPL have a responsibility like “others” to comply with legislation, and we will continually implement improvements and new initiatives to reduce our environmental impacts of our business and operate in an environmentally responsible approach.
As part of our ongoing commitment to both measuring and reducing our carbon footprint, we have teamed up with our long-term supply partner, Morgan Sindall, working with them and the industry Sustainability Carbon Calculator Tool to measure our current carbon footprint, identifying and driving change which is a cornerstone of our commitment to the reduction of our carbon emissions.
We continue to work with our client, Morgan Sindall, to both track and implement strategic changes to enable the reduction of our carbon usage and, with Morgan Sindall’s ongoing support, working with our wider supply chain, supporting them to use the Sustainability Carbon Calculator Tool so that they can begin their journey to both measure and achieve Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon neutrality in line with UK targets.
At DPL, we fully commited to following UK Government guidelines to work toward being carbon neutral by 2050.
At DPL, we have identified the areas within the business that create the most waste and therefore have formal objectives in place for their reduction over time. The focus of our reductions are Vehicle Emissions, Water, Electricity, Waste, and Recycling.
We engage with our employees to update and expand their knowledge of the groups carbon emissions to enable year on year progress in sustainability.
We understand that communication is vital for change so we have created 6 quantifiable decabonisation commitments for 2024
