DPL Group sponsors first local Women in Construction Events

Fantastic events - celebrating and supporting women in construction!

December 2024

DPL Group was proud to have sponsored the Women in Construction event which took place on the 10th of December, at Portman Road, courtesy of Construction Anglia. On Wednesday, Fran Dinsdale, Rebecca Oberon, and Chanel Garnham attended the inspiring event that saw over 200 incredible women coming together to share insights, discuss challenges and celebrate achievements in the construction industry.

In an industry still largely dominated by men, these women are making a powerful impact and supporting one another every step of the way. A big thank you to Clare Yelland and Siu Mun Li for organising such an event, and to all the other sponsors.
It was great to get insights from the students from West Suffolk College and Suffolk New College who are currently studying construction related courses.

October 2024

DPL Group was proud to have sponsored the Women in Construction lunch event which took place on the 9th of October, at West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds.

Construction Anglia hosted the event to inspire the next generation of women who are currently studying courses in construction and provide them with viable role models. Our very own Fran Dinsdale was asked to be on the panel, and she shared how DPL Group thrives by bringing women into the fielding and joining the panel of women reflecting upon their experiences working as women within the construction industry. The panel of role models consisted of (from left to right) Kynleigh Parker, Richmal Hardinge, Siu Mun Li, Clare Yelland, Averil Young, Fran Dinsdale, and Natalie Clifton

“It’s wonderful seeing more women following a career path in construction, they are a great asset to our industry and we as a company believe women bring a wide range of skills that benefit employers and enrich the construction industry.” – Fran Dinsdale, DPL Group CEO

Averil Young, a lecturer at West Suffolk College, arranged for 17 female students to attend the Women in Construction lunch event. She highlighted how the event showcased the numerous opportunities for women in the industry, pointing out that it broadened her students’ perspectives on possible career paths that they previously might not have known were available to them in the construction industry

Averil said: “My students left feeling so inspired, and when asked about role models, they now feel like they have a room full of them.”

The event was also sponsored by Castons / Artelia Group, Sizewell C, and Hudson Group and was part of the 2024 West Suffolk Business Festival.

We are proud and look forward to being a sponsor on the the next event taking place in December
